Weak digestion

अग्निमान्द्य · Agnimāndya · Medical — see a Vaidya

The Ayurvedic idea of a low 'digestive fire' (agni). Educational only — persistent or severe digestive problems need a qualified Vaidya or doctor.

🚑 Seek urgent care if:
  • Unintentional weight loss, black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, severe or persistent abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, or yellowing of the eyes/skin (jaundice).
→ Do not self-treat. Seek prompt medical evaluation.
Classical understanding
  • Classically framed as manda agni — reduced digestive capacity — which, if unaddressed, is said to lead to āma (undigested residue).
General self-care (safe for most)
  • Prefer warm, freshly-cooked, easy-to-digest meals; do not eat again before the previous meal is digested; sip warm water; gentle spices such as ginger, cumin and coriander may aid comfort.
For anything beyond occasional, mild discomfort — and always with red-flag symptoms — consult a qualified Vaidya or physician.
