🚑 Seek urgent care if:
- Severe breathlessness, unable to speak in full sentences, blue-grey lips or fingertips, a reliever inhaler not working, or exhaustion from the effort of breathing.→ This is a medical emergency — use prescribed emergency treatment and seek help now.
Classical understanding
- Tamaka Śvāsa is described as a kapha-vāta disorder of the prāṇavaha channels giving wheezing, tightness and difficult breathing that worsens in bouts, often at night or in cold, damp conditions.
General self-care (safe for most)
- Avoid known triggers (cold, dust, smoke, allergens), favour warm light easily-digested food, keep gently active, and practise slow breathing when settled — never during an attack. This does not replace prescribed inhalers or medical treatment.
Asthma is a medical condition needing a doctor; never stop prescribed inhalers or preventers. Ayurvedic measures are supportive and educational only.
