A preparatory (purvakarma) therapy of internal and/or external oleation that softens and mobilises the doshas before a main Panchakarma procedure.

⚠ Not suitable when — read first
  • supervision High ama (indigestion), poor appetite, obesity and uncontrolled diabetes — internal oleation is unsuitable or must be closely supervised.
Traditionally indicated for
  • Classically the essential preparation before Vamana, Virechana or Basti, and used to pacify vata and lubricate the tissues.
Typical course

Dose, medium (ghee/oil) and duration are individualised and escalated day by day by the treating Vaidya.
