🚑 Seek urgent care if:
- Very heavy bleeding soaking through protection hourly, bleeding with fainting or severe pain, a positive pregnancy test with pain or bleeding, or periods that stop with other concerning symptoms.→ Seek medical care promptly.
Classical understanding
- Classical gynaecology describes disturbances of ārtava and the yoni (yonivyāpad) with irregular or absent menstruation, often linked to kapha-medas and vāta; this broadly overlaps modern PCOS-type patterns.
General self-care (safe for most)
- Regular exercise and a healthy weight, whole foods lower in sugar and refined carbohydrates, good sleep and stress reduction support a regular cycle. These are general measures alongside — not instead of — gynaecological care.
Menstrual and fertility concerns, including PCOS, need a gynaecologist's diagnosis and care; Ayurvedic measures here are supportive and educational only.
