🚑 Seek urgent care if:
- Blood pressure that is very high with a severe headache, chest pain, breathlessness, vision changes, weakness or slurred speech.→ Treat as an emergency and seek medical care now.
Classical understanding
- Raised blood pressure is a modern diagnosis with no single classical equivalent; Ayurvedic authors and modern Ayurvedic practice relate the tendency to vitiated vāta and rakta and to lifestyle, and emphasise a calming, heart-supportive regimen.
General self-care (safe for most)
- Reduce added salt and processed food, keep a healthy weight, move daily, limit alcohol, sleep well and lower stress with slow breathing and rest. These support general heart health and do not replace prescribed blood-pressure treatment.
High blood pressure needs a doctor's diagnosis and monitoring; never stop prescribed medication. Ayurvedic measures are supportive and educational only.
