🚑 Seek urgent care if:
- Any thoughts of harming yourself or feeling life is not worth living, or being unable to eat, sleep or function.→ If you have thoughts of self-harm, contact your local emergency number or a crisis helpline now, and reach someone you trust — you deserve support.
Classical understanding
- Classical texts describe viṣāda (dejection, loss of enthusiasm) as a disturbance of the mind that saps ojas and drive; it is addressed with medhya rasāyana, uplifting routine, activity and sattvāvajaya rather than herbs alone.
General self-care (safe for most)
- Gentle daily activity and sunlight, a regular sleep and meal rhythm, staying connected with people, and purposeful routine all help. Professional support and talking therapy are important and encouraged.
Low mood and depression respond well to professional care; please reach out to a doctor or mental-health professional. Ayurvedic measures here are supportive and educational only.
